About
This blog is about how my wife and I are slowly getting more and more green right here at home. We are just an average middle-class couple living in the SF Bay Area of California doing what we can to help the environment and to help stop global warming.
I hope to post a new entry every 2 or 3 weeks, so the volume won’t be too high. You can subscribe to the RSS feed, and not be overwhelmed!
The reason I put this up here is hopefully we will inspire you to start greening your own home too — especially when you see that it can be easy, it can have a positive effect on the environment and your health, and most importantly, you can actually save money in the long run by doing it.

Is your deck redwood? I am thinking of using Acri-Soy sealant on some redwood planters boxes we are buying, but the people who make the boxes aren’t sure how it will look on the wood. Did you use a clear sealant, and was the coloring okay?
Thanks.

I think the deck is not redwood actually, but a slightly reddish-coloured wood. (It was here when we bought the house.) After we power-washed it, it was pretty much light brown. The sealant we put on it was also very light brown in the can, so it put a little browner tint to the wood as well.
Here is the set of flickr pictures I made about it:

Hey,
I came across your site looking for information on the pond that I have and the one you got of is the exact same pond that I have. Do you know how may gallons of water it holds?
Thanks!

Hi there,
I’m not sure how many gallons it held. (I don’t have it any more.) Just eyeballing it, it looks like about 80 to 100 gallons or so…
